SMS Security Advisory: Public Sms Risks
Crucial privacy and security explanation regarding public-sms-risks.
Critical Risks of Public Shared SMS Numbers
Public temporary numbers are designed exclusively for developer testing, disposable account signup verification, and spam prevention on low-trust platforms. They provide zero cryptographic encryption and zero personal confidentiality.
Strict Restrictions — Never Use Public Inboxes For:
- Banking, credit union, or financial account multi-factor authentication (MFA)
- Primary email account recovery (Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Proton)
- Healthcare portals, pharmacy orders, or medical communication
- Cryptocurrency wallets, exchange 2FA, or custodial account access
Any third party viewing this page can read the same incoming one-time passcode. If another user initiates an account recovery or password reset using the same public number, your session may be compromised.
Recommended Enterprise Practice: For automated regression suites, continuous integration testing, or private verification flows, use our Developer Sandbox with dedicated private virtual lines and synthetic event injection.
